This past weekend, August 18-20, several of our Gilmer High FFA members traveled to Perry, Ga to show their livestock at the Georgia Young Farmers Association Livestock show. Exhibiting this livestock takes a tremendous amount of time and effort. From a vet check, bathing, and shearing to spending countless hours walking and building muscle. At some shows they are asked to explain what they like and dislike about their livestock using the correct terminology and describe the daily care for their livestock projects.  The members that traveled to show goats were Bryson Darnell, Tyler Cantrell, and Elizabeth Stillwell. Tyler placed 5th in Showmanship and 7th in weight class. The next show will be on September 17th in Lawrenceville, Ga. Good luck! We are looking forward to seeing what is accomplished by these students.
