Our Gilmer Lady Cats played an extraordinary game on Tuesday the 13th. In a a brief write-up from Ashely Waters, the game will be explained.
“Gilmer Lady Cats Varsity lost 4-2 in seven innings at Tunnel Hill, GA on Tuesday, despite outhitting Northwest Whitfield four to three.
The lead stayed with Northwest Whitfield after the first, when it scored two runs on a two-run home run by Fitzgerald in the bottom of the 1st.
The Lady Cats first hit came during the top of the 5th off the bat of Senior Madison Carver who beat out the throw for an infield single.Sophomore Hannah Bennett reached base on a fielder’s choice by NW Shortstop. Marie Goswick followed that up with a single of her own putting baserunners on 1st and 2nd. Senior Katlin Dale kept the inning going with a hard hit 2-run single to left field but 2 runs was all the Cats were able to put on the board in the 5th.
Senior Karli Loudermilk doubled to CF late in the game but the Lady Cats were unable to get her across the plate before the inning ended. The Lady Cats are now 5-5 in region play and 8-7 overall. They take on non-region opponent the Fannin County Lady Rebels Wednesday, Sept. 14th and travel to LaFayette to take on region opponent Lady Ramblers on Thursday, Sept. 15th.”
